  • Pre-booking is suggested but not required. You can just show up at the quarry, but on busy days such as weekends we may reach capacity.
  • Children 6 and under are free with a paying adult.
  • This pricing is for a single individual. You will be digging alongside others in our quarry.
  • As part of quarry access you get to keep essentially all of the fossils that you find including all fish, plants and insects. In the rare occasion a fossil exceeding $100k in value is found (some birds, mammals and reptiles) that must be turned over to FossilEra Adventures as we are required to pay a substantial royalty to the land owner. You will have the option to purchase it at a discounted price.
  • Cancellation Policy From Pre-Bookings – Bookings can be moved to another day at no charge or canceled up to 48 hours of the date at no charge. Canceling within 48 hours of booked date will incur a 25% fee and no shows will not receive a refund. If the cancelation is for reasons outside of the customers control such as the weather a full refund will be provided.

Exclusive Digs ($750)

In addition to the individual rates, we offer private digs where we will provide you and your group your own personal cache of approximately 2 cubic meters of unsplit rock. You and your group can go split this rock at your own pace. You will be located in our main quarry but other quests can not split your rock. A limit of 10 people are allowed for each private dig. Pre-booking is required for exclusive digs as we need to make sure we have enough fossil-laden rock available that day.

Group Discounts

We can provide group discounts for groups of 15 or more and offer substantial discounts for school/educational groups. Please contact us to arrange large group trips so that we can make sure we can accommodate you.

Why Do We Charge What We Do?

We are providing access to arguably the premier fossil beds in the entire world. It costs a lot of money to operate the quarry including tens of thousands of dollars in annual lease fees, bulldozing of 20-50 feet of overburden to expose the layers, heavy equipment leases as well as insurance and staffing. It costs us well into the six figures just to get the quarry open up for the season.

The most productive fossil fish layer is only several feet thick and has 20-50 feet of overburden on top of it that must be removed prior to the season. This productive layer is a valuable and limited resource so we expect that guests will respect this and not waste it by making sure to split it thin and not just bashing it with a hammer.
